I've got 6 acres, and about 2 acres of thinly dispersed poison oak under our oak trees. What would you recommend to deal with it? I believe the previous owner would mow it. Any advice is appreciated.

One cure. I have noticed that none of this grows where cattle graze. Apparently good food for them.

Mow it and spray it with roundup. Spray it right away to get the cut stem to "drink" the herbicide into the plant.

If your against spraying, you will need to dig them out and get all the roots or it will just come right back. ;)

I have used 50/50 water and the cheapest chlorine bleach I can find,, spray it heavy and soon the leaves will wither and turn brown. This will not kill the roots but the tops,, after a couple years the roots finally die off

Spray it with crossbow, leave it till next spring and it will be dead, roots and all. Crossbow won't kill the grasses. Make sure plant has plenty of foliage before spraying, use 1 qt. to 15 gallons for a 4 % solution and a good squirt of dawn dish soap or motor oil to help it stick to the shiny leaves. If you have lots scattered around you may want to use the purple dye in yor mix to be sure of what was sprayed or not sprayed. It will appear dead in a few weeks but do not mow it ! Roots take forever to die off, give it time. Good luck !
