I stopped by the shop I do business with yesterday.

They were saying that they’ve had a lot of new parts failing….

Had an alternator last 30 seconds….
Sounds about right.

Had an a/c compressor do me like that last week. Clutch cycled once then never again lol.

I think china is just laughing at us at this point. They know the average american consumer will buy anything at any quality.

Lady comes in last week for an inside door handle. Ours from the parts house (which is definitely from china, just maybe one of the slightly better parts) is about $60.

She comes back yesterday with a $9 handle off amazon. Not even close. Same handle for the same car. But bolt holes not even close, can't accept the lock rod, etc. We're like, "Nope, BYE FELICA!" LOL

Do we happen to have a "repair photo" type thread on here? A "Whatcha workin on" sorta thing?

Y'all take some pretty amazing photos on here and I don't want to contaminate this thread if its geared more towards awesome nature related stuff and what not.

I was deleting old photos off the phone and came across this lovely jewel from a few years back.

Early 90s LS400. Accidental discharge by an overnight security guard who liked to nap with his gun in hand, finger on the trigger. Gotta be ready in good ole "Jacktown" LOL. Shot just above the center console right into the evaporator case. I'm a pretty seasoned dash puller, but this ole girl almost ate my lunch.

I was out at a property this morning to look at a 3.1 acre field that the owner wants me to disc for him. He had two really cool gas pumps outside his shop that caught my eye. The attendant would manually pump the gas into the reservoir and then gravity feed the gas into the tank of the vehicle. The model with the clear glass reservoir is an earlier model and it was easy to see how much gas was being dispensed. According to the owner of the property, the other pump had to be modified so that customers could see gas flowing.

Does anyone remember stopping at a gas station with such a pump?

Wow. What year were they?

Couple folks around here have older style pumps around their shops as sort of an old service station theme. Old signage and what not.

Looks like those pumps have them beat by SEVERAL decades lol. Pretty dang cool right there!

I don't know the year, but I would think '50s and '60s maybe. I'm guessing that the handle in the photo above on the other side of the dial pump shown below is to set the pointer to zero.

Many times a month we get repossessions from our local credit union. Every now and then we'll get something that's not automotive related.

We'll fix whatevers F'ed up, clean it up good, and out to the hill they go to meet their new lucky owner. Last week this fine jewel came in:

2021 Mahindra 1635. 450hrs. I drove it all of 30 feet from the wrecker to the bossman's bay and everything about it feels so different from Kubota. I immediately feel like if I treated this one like I did my 3301 when we first bought the farm, I'd a tore this thing up 10 times over.

This would only be the second Mahindra I've driven or been around. My good buddy moved out to the country about the same time we did. Neither one of us had even sat on a tractor up to this point and had no clue about makes, models, hp, etc....

My boss and farm hand customers all told me to go with either Kubota or NH. Well several of his coworkers told him to go with Mahindra because with Kubota you're just paying for the name. Yea sure.

Couple hours after getting his new tractor off the trailer, its getting loaded right back up because the first time he hits the parking brake he says it felt like a cable snapped. Tractor has 3 hours at this point.

The first time I saw his tractor in person the first thing that caught my eye was how thin the bucket looked versus kubotas. And everything about the loader just looked weaker than mine. Everything for the loader is mounted right up under the right side fully exposed and in the wide ass open. Just begging to get ripped off.

Within a few weeks his bucket looked worse than this ones.

I back drag and push trees over mainly with my buckets. In 4 years the one on my 3301 still looked brand new. And in 2 years the 3560s bucket is still in top notch shape.

So thankful to have went with Kubota instead of Mahindra. Plus I KNOW the Kubota forum is WAY cooler than the Mahindra forum LOL.

I got a bit side tracked and my whole reason for the post is that the dude from the credit union that we always deal with was here a bit ago. He tells the boss, "We'd take 22k for it." Bossman quickly comes back with, "I bet you will."

While they're talking, I jump on the mahindra site LOL

The rabbits didn't appreciate me mowing yesterday but today they seem to appreciate the results and give their seal of approval to the Kubota F2690. Captured with Canon 1DX II and EF 800 f5.6 glass.

When there is snow on the ground I put out birdseed onto my covered deck for the quail. But the rabbits join right in and eat the birdseed also. Blurry shot - taken before sunrise so it was pretty dark.

I often hear quail here but rarely see them unlike where I grew up in Mississippi. There were a few that used to hang out in the front flower garden and the unsuspecting house cat accidentally flushed them and nearly had heart failure when they took off. Had the door not been open, the cat would have tried to go straight through it like a cartoon cat on its way back into the house.

BBFarmer,

That is not me jumping! I wish I had that kind of talent (and that I was still a high school student, maybe...) :)

I grew up in Gulfport and then spent about 3 years in Lubbock TX getting my PhD before moving to central Illinois.

Oh ok. Before kids, the wife and I would often slip off there and Biloxi. And I still frequent a fish camp in Gautier.

I hail out of Terry.

I have been through Terry a few times. My mother grew up in New Hebron and there were several relatives on her side of the family in Crystal Springs and Hazelhurst. I did my undergrad and MBA at USM so I traveled a lot in the south central part of the state.

I miss the coast, particularly in February when it is cold and gray up here, and I really miss fishing and the seafood. I have a sister who lives in Gulfport and I hope to get down there sometime this summer. My daughter is in college and she interns at Los Alamos National Laboratory every summer so scheduling is a bit tight but it has been far too long since we have been to the coast.

I know things look a LOT different now since it was a couple of years after Katrina when I was last on the coast.

That's pretty cool right there. I love seeing the shimp boats out and about. Couple months ago we were coming by the building yard and caught several naval and coast guard ships.

They are everywhere around here. I bet I have a hundred of them within 50 feet of the house right now. My neighbors report the same.

This flock is within a few feet of my house, next to the lilacs and roses.

Very nice! I often hear their "bob white" call but rarely see them. This year I have at least three pheasants nearby and one of them thinks I need to be awake around 5 AM.

We are lucky enough to have a couple families around but nothing like that! They are great to watch (and listen to)
