Just experienced a sudden engine shutdown on my 65 hour MX5400. Was using grapple when engine suddenly shut down. I thought i had raised up enough from the seat to cause it I reached down and turned the key to start and it didn't start. I turned the key off and then back to start and everything lit up and started perfectly. I used the machine just a while longer before I came back to the house. It ran perfect. When I got back I saw I had a P0087 displaying. I researched that and it said it is low fuel rail pressure. I followed the procedure using the regen buttons to clear the code from the display. Up to now it has not returned and machine is running fine I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem.

I had a similar shutdown on my 6000. Just died. Key off, and back on she fired up. Never popped a code to my knowledge. Do they display where the hours are automatically?

Yes, I was seeing the P0087 code flash alternatively with the hours in the window where the hours usually display. It was raining today so I didn't go into it deep but I couldn't see anything with the fuel system that could cause low pressure, so I don't know if it could have been a sensor issue. Even though it cleared and seems to be fine, you can't help but wonder if it will pop up again.

injectors bleeding off can cause that code. But so can a fuel filter issue. Or a million other things. If it comes back have the dealer hook it up and diagnose. Gotta use diagmaster.
