I have oil coming out the top of my valve cover. I assume this means I put in too much oil?? (I only took out 3 qts and put 3 back in but maybe that was still too much??. )

Did I miss anything else that could be causing this?

How much air do you have blowing out of that tube? Excessive blowby past the piston rings can carry oil vapor with it.
There may also be an issue with the filter / screen in the top of the valve cover that is not coalescing the vapors back into liquid to be returned to the engine.

It's coming out slowly.. but hard to tell since the fan is right there too. And it's not too much oil but enough to get all over the engine, starter, etc.

There is supposed to be a hose that runs from the valve cover down to the bottom of the engine to keep it from making such a mess on the engine.

Some people attach a small can to the hose to see how much oil output there is.

There should be a slobber tube on that spigot or a hose to return to the intake tract.
