Oil Capacity

B7100 hst old. The user and service manual says 4 qrts. Not sure if that included the filter.
I ran the motor for about 5 min. drained the oil, replaced the filter and put in 4 qrts. I check the oil stick and it showed over fill. I checked the dipstick to see if it was the correct one . it is.
I then again drained the oil, NOT the filter, added 3 qrts and it was good.
has anyone have info on this?

You got it right the second time.

Oil Change 101

Never add the full amount before checking the dipstick on any engine or transmission.

Mine is right at the full mark with a little over 3 including filling the filter. No idea what the manual calls for.

Dipstick tells the truth........ most of the time!

Butttttt............. the dipstick CAN lie too - the little rubber stopper can move along the stick - so be aware of that !

My L2501 has a 6qt capacity.

I have yet to put over 5 quarts in during an oil change.

If you could remove all the oil, it would hold 6 quarts, including the filter.
Kubota publishes the "dry" capacity, not the oil change capacity. They included a dipstick for refilling capacity.

That is indeed the point I was trying to make. Possibly a bit underwhelming on the delivery on my part.
