Better than HF. Not all of their stuff is top shelf, but it's above most of HF's wares. They also carry name brands, and some very high end tools/equipment.

What Hodge said. Be prepared if you buy something from them, they will send you lots of catalogs. I buy something from them once every two-three years, and I've been getting 4-10 catalogs a year, one of them a hardcover master catalog.

Hodge said it well - I use to buy 85% of all my tools and stuff from them 20 years ago, until I found a cheaper source ,Amazon being one of them.

NT has a wide range of stuff, their name brand tools (dewalt, PC, Milw) are higher priced than other places you will find, sometime way higher.

Things they specialize are tools like pressure washers, trailer parts, pneumatic stuff, etc.

Great store to walk in and kill 30 minutes to an hour while the wife is doing something else at the mall!!!:D:)

Some of the "Chickenese" tools are identical to HF except they want 25% more than HF regular prices. Great source for pressure washers.

Never got anything from them before, but NT was an option for the IR 20 gallon air compressor I bought recently.

NT was higher than Tractor Supply, but I think they have coupons that would have made it the same.

I like T but don't buy much from them anymore. Their freight seems to be high. I can usually go local and get it for the same or just slightly more

They're a blend of good stuff and junk. You just have to be aware when you shop. Never use their mailorder; just when convenient to drop by.

Their northstar brand is good stuff, but their other brands aren't.

You can always get $10 off $50 and $20 off $100 coupons for them online. I've never seen a printed one and they don't have any active now but they usually have $50 off $250 coupon codes to use online. I've often done online orders of stuff in stock at the local store and shipped it free to the local store just so I could use that coupon.

I believe they used to be called Northern Tool and Hydraulic. I got parts to build a log splitter from them years ago. Great to deal with back then.

They are at the higher end of a lot of foreign products. Excellent generators w/ Honda motors. Logging tools are easier to bend but price diff. is substancial. Pulled over 100 cord off 21 acres over the years w/ 84' L2250 and bent the 36" grapples about 2". $59 vs. $300, to me = so what. Put them on the garage floor & bang 'em straight w/ bucket or 10-12# sledge. Generally great for non- commercial use.
