Noobie Brush Hog Question

Thanks for all of the insight folks. Very helpful for folks like me getting started.

I got lucky (I think) and found a used Woods Bush Bull with a clutch that is in great shape minus some faded paint. Picked it up and an older brush hog heavy duty auger (with 6&9 inch bits) for $1,700 as a package deal. Looks like I have officially started down the path of implement hording...

Well that's just showing off! $1,700 for that haul ... hard to beat that!

Ha! It's just a 60 inch cutter, so a lot less iron than most of you folks are towing around

Hopefully you'll post some photos and let us know how it works for you and how you like it. As a point of reference, I bought a used Land Pride SSQA auger with 9" and 12" bits and paid $1,750 ... I would have been thrilled if they'd thrown in a Woods 5ft rotary cutter. I could have thrown it in the bed of my F250 as one member has suggested.

Congratulations on starting your implement addiction. It'll get worse I can assure you!

Congrats on the find. I just purchased a woods bb 72.30 myself but other than testing (playing) with it I haven’t done much yet. Best of luck with yours I was happy to find mine.

So after a year of ownership, are you pleased with the Bush Hog model that you bought? As you know, I ended up with a Land Pride RCR1884 and it's proven to be a durable cutter. Removing/installing the blades is a bit of a pain but hopefully the Milwaukee M18 impact will make the job a lot easier.

You actually remove and install the blade on a rotary cutter? On my previous cutter, I used it for 15 years and never messed with the blade.

You must not do a lot of mowing. I usually run a couple hundred hours a year on my bat wing and if I get two seasons out of a set of blades I feel lucky.

Or maybe he doesn't have to cut fields with rocks that heave up to the surface over the winter.

I mostly cut native grass a few times a season with my rotary cutter. It’s not weekly like I do with the lawn mower.
