Anyone have any suggestions for a non stick coating to apply to the underneath side of a mower deck to prevent and/ or easily remove sticking grass?

Thanks.

Pam, as used in cooking.
I second that. I save all the wife's cooking sprays when they go out of date.
Works pretty well as a release agent in clay/sticky soils on backhoe & FEL buckets too.

I think some use Fluid Film.

I haven't yet, but might try it sometime.

I clean it our after every cut and it cleans easily. If u leave it for a while it ain't fun to scrape off.

The only thing that I know that doesn't let anything stick to it is Teflon. Teflon painting is a multistage process starting with sandblasting and finishing with baking on the final coat. I'm sure very expensive!

I have used por15 paint for many different uses. Painted the inside of my 3 point finish mower and grass sticking issue has been reduced.

I tried something called Mo-cote.
I clean the deck after every use so I can’t say it made any improvement.

There is a product called "Slip Plate" made for keeping the plow shears from rusting. But it down't stay on very long when the plow is back in the soil. Fluid Film would work, it's just too expensive for that purpose, since it also will be quickly wore off.

There is nothing I am aware of that will stay on for many hours of mowing. Probably have to clean the mower frequently, or mow when the grass is dry.

Thats me. Mowing 7 acres, nothing stays on the deck for long. I just pressure wash mine regularly. Usually, I'll pressure wash it and then grease the spindles to force any water out of the bearings.

I use Fluid Film on my mower deck....works like a champ....I respray it a few times a season, whenever I drop the deck to sharpen the blades.

If you could find a coating that would hold up to the 'sandblasting effect' that goes on under a mower deck, you will have discovered the Holy Grail of lawn mowers.

Like ‘Cat points out, Fluid Film is ~$10 for a can.

But I found out the hard way a little goes a long way....had it slobbered all over my cast table saw...[emoji15]

I still have third of a can left after 3 years. It’s good stuff in my book, just use it sparingly. [emoji2957]

I’ve thought about adding POR15 to the G5200’s deck. Seems to be good stuff if used correctly with their 3 step process.. No idea on the non stick, but I can report back if I use it if anyone is interested.

The non stick stuff would be for my new LP finisher.

Avoiding wet grass goes a long way. I find that long wet grass sticks to the deck more too. When the mower starts streaking or leaving clumps it’s time to scrape the deck.

FYI I bought a cheapo pneumatic paint scraper with a 2 inch wide chisel. It does a really good job scraping the deck and helps me avoid skinned knuckles. Much easier than hand scraping and less messy than the pressure washer.
