hi everyone ive just bought a rough example of a b6000 with a front loader for the stables, the engine runs on one cylinder, hydraulics are weak and it hasnt been shown any love for years.

my questions are

before i rebuild the engine can i repower it with a d series 3 cylinder engine or an larger displacement 2 cylinder lump without too much hassle, will it fit under the bonnet and will the bellhousing bolt pattern, flywheels and clutches fit?

what ROPS can i fit?

i really need turf tyres ive searched for info on here but im having problems finding suitable wheels in the uk. can i use suitable wheels and tyre off another model that maintain the correct ratio and if so what model would it be?

many thanks in advance
roy.

The main man I can think of on here that would have an answer to your proble is fellow member Rob, He has a few B series tractors he's torn down and rebuilt and tinkered with. Maybe he'll chime in here soon with an answer.

roy, it all honesty the best solution engine wise is to rebuild you ZL600, its a great engine and has heaps of torque , its the best option for the B6000.
You could fit similar 2 cyl engines, but , it becomes a very time consuming and less than ideal solution.
ZL600 parts are still in quite good supply , i have a complete block here in good working order, along with bearings ,pistons & rings, gasket etc, probably enough to rebuild two engine from the ground up. also quite a few other B6000 parts inc kubota F/R wheels with turf tryres on if you are interested.

Is your b6000 a UK spec model or a JDM version, eitherway they are great machines:D, just the JDM have some sutle differences in a few areas.

Mine was a JDM, but is now a bit of everything inc a b7001.;)
Rops for the b6000 are like hens teeth in the uk, there are a few micky mouse ones around on ebay etc but i wouldnt use them to be honest.

thanks for the fast replies guys!

i think its a uk model as the few plates that are left are readable

ive got to do a cylinder leakage on it before i decide when im going to rebuild it, after christmas would be nice.

ive been looking for pattern parts for the zl600 and so far ive only found a firm in italy that makes all the engine parts but no uk supplier have you found any reasonably priced suppliers?

ive got to pull the pressure reg to bit as the loader couldnt lift a couple of slabs and the the oil is milky so ive bought some ep80 to do a trans oil change as i suspect the level is low as you can hear the pump cavitaing when the loader is fully raised.

also i cant get 4wd to engage which was frustrating as it got stuck as soon as it hit some horse churned up mud, the diff lock works though, is the 2wd-4wd lever just below the high-low range lever on the right hand side?

many thanks roy
