Can it be done inside the tractor? How hard is it? Will I need special tools?

It appears that I may be able to remove the flywheel without removing the engine. I would like to know if anyone has ever done this before on this tractor and engine and what, if any, problems did they encounter.

Thanks much!

Changing the rear seal is easy on that model, no special tools required.
Get a genuine Kubota seal not a cheap aftermarket seal. ;)

I was wondering whether or not to call it a "Rear Seal" because of the fact the engine is bass-ackwards on the frame. But that really is what it is.

Also, unless the seal looks really worn I may just put some seal retainer or locktite on the outer diameter and tap it back into place.

Now that I'm pretty sure I know what happened I also figure that my original fear of running the engine after this happened with a possible compromised oil feed problem to the bearings is most likely unfounded.

I can't see well enough in between the flywheel to actually confirm the problem is the seal but I'm 99 percent sure. I'll know once I take it apart.
