Can get a brand new woods 54 inch box blade for $300.

Normally $789.00

Only concern is my tractor is 60 inches wide.

Don't want to buy if it won't work properly.

Thanks.

When I got mine...I researched here and other places and everyone said to get one the same width as rear tires...

Most advised against something too wide ( not enough HP)... And that too narrow would result in more passes to clean up area...

Only you can decide based on your needs and costs...

One of those it "depends" things. It will work and I know a couple of men who like the narrower units, I personally prefer wheel width or wider.

If you buy a good one, chances are you'll never wear it out. Spend a few extra dollars now and get what you really need.

I would go with one that's at LEAST as wide as the tractor's rear wheel footprint. But it really depends on what you're planning to do with it. Just bear in mind that if your tractor is wider than the blade, you'll be leaving tire tracks in your finished work.

I had a 48 inch box blade off my old tractor when I got my new to me tractor that was 60 inches at the wheels. It worked fine. I sold the old tractor with all attachments and got a 64 inch so it would be wider than the tires. Its for sure faster on the driveway as it does two passes, but I think the quality of the finished product is the same.
If you can get it at a good deal buy it, if you do not like it move up you can easily get the value back by selling it.

Wider blades cover more ground & therefore "average" better- in other words. you will spend less time leveling an area than with a narrower blade.
However, narrow blades dig better; less surface area to "drive" into the ground.
My neighbor has a 20hp B2150 with a 60" box blade and his grades pretty well, if there isn't a lot of digging to do.
My 16hp B7100 with a 42" blade (same width as the tractor) will dig circles around his. Our ground is very hard, and if there is digging to do, (such as cutting a water course for drainage or a dich) he calls me. My blade is as heavy or heavier than his wider blade, so it just cuts better. But mine does not level a large area as easily as his 60"; it will do it, but it takes more time, passes, & effort.
