That was my thread that I started when I rebuilt my L200 this past summer.
Here are a few things to consider before purchasing;
1.What new parts that are left are very expensive.
2.The tractor gearing is very low. This tractor was designed for plowing and hard pulling. For general everyday running around, it will be a bit slower in road gear than more modern compact tractors with faster gear ratios. This does not matter much in my personal case, but it could be significant issue for you. Be sure to drive it in all gears if possible.
3. You just not going to start the engine very easily in cold weather without working glow plugs and the knowledge to use them properly.
4. With just two cylinders, the engine noise is pretty loud. It's not bad, just sort of a pop, pop, pop sound.
5. The seat and leg area is pretty cramped and tight. You almost feel like you are "wearing" the tractor vs. just sitting on it.
The good;
1. This would be a fantastic tractor for a small to medium size garden. With it's narrow gauge wheels and light weight - it's a plowing and tillage machine. The maneuverability is great for turning around in tight spots.
2. With it's large diameter rear wheels and light weight, it's just about impossible to get stuck. This tractor was originally designed to work in flooded rice fields.
3. The two-speed PTO is very strong as is the 3-point lift. This little tractor can lift way more than you think.
4. It's a very simple motor and machine. Very easy to understand and maintain. If you are new to diesels, this would be a great first diesel engine to get running.
5. If the price is right, you'll be happy with the value and usefulness of this little tractor.
Hope this helps you a bit in your decision!
