2009 L4400 HST. I had a branch smash the bottom of my radiator. The radiator shop says it's junk, and he can't find me one. Kubota Dealer says their parts look up computer system is down. A google search sent me to Amazon on one that was over $800..... There is another one there for $295, "Aluminum Core"
What are my best options in this situation? Thanks very much.

Have you tried ANY of the "tractor junk yards?"

here is a new aluminum core one - $279

the aluminum core will cool better than the old copper one too - lighter in weight but still has a few disadvantages too.

Hmmmm I thought they were all aluminum cored for a log time now. Both my M's are aluminum core with plastic tanks and one is a 2002 and the other is a 2004.

I see no disadvantage to an aluminum core rad with plastic tanks except it cannot ever be recored, but then I don't put sticks through mine either.... 😀

most everything built from 1992 on up is aluminum B7100's from the 90's had copper radiators but they quit making those. G1800/1900 were copper, but those also went away in the 90's. Replacement (G2160) is aluminum.

aluminum is cheaper to make and cools better. You'd think that copper/brass/lead radiators would cool better because copper is a better conductor of heat, BUT....they ain't all copper, there's brass and lead and some steel, the lead and steel are poor conductors of heat. The only good thing about a C-B-L radiator is that they're easier to repair in most cases.

a good radiator shop could have repaired it if it's just the plastic tank damaged assuming they can get a new tank. If it was the core, still repairable but costs as much or more than just replacing it

Cannot answer your specific question but do strongly recommend that you insist upon a flat-finned industrial core radiator regardless of what you buy.

Automotive type, serpentine core radiators are not suitable for tractors because they quickly clog with debris, especially if the tractor is used for mowing.

I wonder if the new ones have ultrasonically welded tanks? Both mine have what appears to be flanged and crimped on tanks but my cars have no flange at all.

Never have an issue with the Rad but I keep it clean (debris free) and the coolant gets changed every 2 years. I thought about going to extended life but Kubota recommended green antifreeze is so inexpensive it really don't matter. Cars all have extended life (Global) AF.
