on the b1750 that i just took delivery of...

according to the dealer i bought it from, they werent leaking before it shipped to me from tx

however, as soon as the delivery guy fired it up, they began dripping...quite profusely in fact

anyways, i'm getting ready to remove them when i notice the back pin (towards the back of the tractor) wont clear the frame for the FEL

it appears as if the fel needs to be raised up a few feet or so, and then this pin will clear

so, how do i do this?

I'm thinking of firing up the tractor, raising the bucket up, and resting it on top of this 4 ft wood fence i have...then pulling the piston while it is up in air?

thoughts?

pics are here ....
this first pic is me pointing to the seal that is leaking on the big main hyd pistons of the FEL http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u137/mattbatson/tractor/?action=view&current=016.jpg

you can then see the rest of the pics in my album from there....

I didnt take a specific pic of the back pin that wont clear...but there are only two pins, both secured by cotter pins, one on each end. And then two hyd hoses to unbolt, and it should come out.

I may be looking at it wrong but the rear pins on the loader will stay in the same position no matter where the bucket is. Can you pull the cotter pins and then remove the pins that secure the ram by pulling them to the outside? If they don't have enough room to go to the inside because of the frame then it sounds like they would have been installed from the outside toward the inside.

thx for the response, and you are correct, raising the arm gave me nothing....

the pin would not have enough room either way...whether it was installed from the inside or outside.
So, i went ahead and unbolted part of the FEL, which then gave me clearance to get the pin out.

so, I'm getting ready to take them into a hydraulic shop. The guy said it would be around 120 per, due to the fact that he hones the pistons to make certain there are no wear grooves.

I'm actually thinking of pricing out new ones for that kind of cash

Or, should I just purchase the seals and do it myself without a hone?

Is that step pretty important?

thx

If they are worn or pitted real bad it would be a big deal. The price he gave you doesn't sound real bad if he goes on and does the extra work. The cheapest I have ever got a set built was just under $200 and they just needed the seals. If the shop you are using gives a warranty with there work that might be the way to go.

they dont seem worn, and definitely not pitted...they actually appear in pretty good shape.

I'm sure he warranties his work, and would make certain of this before laying down over 200 bucks.

I found some bushhog dealers in the area, and will call to see what brand spanking new ones would cost :p

if the price difference isnt significant, then you can guess which way I'll be going :D

thx for the info,

matt

I'll bet that they are much more than $120 a piece.
