Hello, folks.
I pull a BH RDTH72 finish mower behind an M7060 and after a couple hours the transmission gets pretty hot. Hot enough that I can't hold my hand on it. I expect it to get hot but I don't know how much heat is ok partly because this tractor is new to me. We have hills with some flats but the terrain doesn't seem to matter much. I expect high heat is eventually bad for the seals so I thought I'd ask and see what other folks are seeing.

As long as your fluid levels are up to level, and you're not deadheading the hydraulics you're probably working in the normal parameters of the system.

Get an IR heat gun and take measurements.
I think the M7060 has a hydraulic temp sensor, I'll have to look into that.

Your hand can only stand (and will feel painful) about 140-degrees F… While many transmissions find that a normal range….. and lots of machinery has oil temps that run 190-210 regularly.… if that helps put things in perspective.
