My m7040s clutch is hard and quick, one thing about the tractor that I dont like. It is not as easy operated as my old jd2155, just wondering about what others think about it, it is the snycro shuttle, not hydraulic and works on old knees when used a lot.

Have you checked the adjustment on the clutch?
Does it seem harder to mash than normal, have you greased the shaft under the tractor. The clutch and brake pedals should be greasable.
I have bad knees myself and the only time my 9000 bothers me is during baling season. Stopping and starting every time a bale is dumped makes mine hurt.
