I just bought a used M5140 appears to be a 2012 660 hrs that has a gap between the instrumnent panel clear cover and the rest of the main Dash housing. Gap is about 1/4 inch were moisture and dirt can get into to area. It looks like the entire dash HOUSING is not up tight against the engine firewall. I am going to try and post some pictures. Anyone know how this should be repaired ? I seems that the entire housing needs to be screwed up tight so it fits tight to the engine firewall. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Bill

If I remember correctly that piece is held on with 3 screws. One on each side and one in the middle. Have to access all of them from under the hood. The middle one is a pain to get too. It's all plastic so the tabs might be broken off as well. I'll try and post some pictures tomorrow.

I forgot to take pictures but here is a parts breakdown. Look at #70 & #80. The screw will be "outside" the fire wall under the hood.

Not looking forward to tackling this job, I am going to do as much research as I can before tearing into it. I can't see myself getting up under the rear hood housing as just ain't any room and at my age I just am not that flexible. I would appreciate any other suggestions. I have a shop manual didn't see anything that helped in it I will look through it again.

Hello Bill
Just wondering what part of Northern California you're in. I don't see many post from fellow Northern Californians.

Looks similar to the job I did on the vacuum cleaner hose yesterday. Started out thinking I would take the head off and just shorten the hose a few inches but half way into taking it apart realized the wiring ran inside the spiral support coil, and cutting out a section would require rewiring the connectors etc. Decided duct tape would do. :D

I am always wrapping a crack in my wife's Vacuum Cleaner, I use electrical tape on it too.
