LX2610 buying help - HP question

I am very biased towards orange. Technical specs are obviously important, but so is service after sale unless you plan to do your yourself. I also have an awesome dealer. I’d recommend you think about which dealer you rather do business with especially if you need service. Back to the technical specs, if you value quality/construction are a for you (if just mowing maybe no issue) I’d encourage you to look at the frame, axle housing and the enclosed hub for the wheel on both machines before you decide. Maybe also consider about future implements and compatibility of kubota to everything for SSQA or the compatibility to JD and their loader. I think that is a future consideration based on how you think you might use or add implements. Regarding the HP, I have no experience with your model (or the specific JD you referenced) but I had a BX 2360 and now a B2650. The B is great. I actually used for light brush hogging of saplings, a lot (w/ a MMM…yes I know that is not what it is for but that is what I had)before I had an MX. it’s awesome. That being said it did great. Tall wet grass will bog it down, that just means you will learn to love HST and ability to go as slow as you like. Just my thoughts. Personally if using for tall wet grass, I think a B would be on the lower end of HP requirements. However I think it is a better built machine though…that’s just me. My dealer steered me clear of the 3350 because of the emissions issues. I am glad they did. If you control your speed it should be fine. If using the 3pt and PTO to mow, any particular reason you are against the L? A small L is maybe best value for dollar for the lineup with orange? (Or several years ago it was). Generally If comparing a 26hp and a 38hp there a bit of a gap there. Just my thoughts.

Thanks for the info. Mostly staying away from the L series for ergonomic reasons, I like the arms rests, where the loader lever is etc. I don't plan on doing tall wet grass. Hopefully will have my brush hogging done before things get really green. Winter is rough but it stomps everything down for you.

Is the 2038r a two speed HST?

Coming from a BX with a 2 speed and going to a B2601 with a 3 speed, the difference is quite noticeable in how much better control you have over your speed. I find myself in medium most of the time, but it’s nice to have low when you need to go slow or need the extra grunt.

Yeah the 2038 is a 2 speed. I have read the 3 speed is really nice to have.

Hey everyone, I have decided to get the LX2610 with a cab. I just really think I want the cab now and you guys put my worries about being underpowered at ease. For what I am going to do with it, I think I will be just fine. I have some other questions I may post in a new thread. Thanks again for all the help.

I see you've already decided. I was just about to comment about the green variety was a 2 speed trans. You may actually be able to cut faster with the LX in M than the green in L. Xspec stated it well above.

Just remember that you are adding a bit more weight with the cab. The tractor still has to haul that additional mass up hills. I wouldn't be afraid of the LX3310 with the extra ponies.

I know a member here who runs 60" on B2650 (~LX2610) also without trouble.

My B2650 handles my old 60" Woods Dixie-Cutter M5-4 so far so good, but I'm not going to push the mower through some heavy stuff I'm sure it would handle well with a higher HP PTO.
But because it's a little under-powered, the mower shouldn't break or wear out as quickly, I'm guessing. I made sure that the weight was ok for my 3-point to handle, and at 480lbs it just squeaks by the spec-ed rating for my tractor.

Good choice OP. The LX3310 would not have been a bad choice either since the engine has been upgraded from the problematic B3350. I stayed away from JD primarily because the color green fetches a premium over orange and red and the FEL has a proprietary quick attach system that isn't compatible with other skid steer quick attach elements.

I was all JD until I priced a kubota after a lot of people who own one told me I should. The price difference was pretty staggering. Now I get a cab.

I am confident you would be happy with either the LX2610 or the LX3310. I went in to get a LX2610 and ended up with the LX3310 because the dealer had one in a crate on site (DEC 2020). I have over 70 hours and zero concerns or problems with the extra Tier 4 emissions stuff. Never a shortage of power or PTO power. The LX is a nice package with some of the extra included as standard. Both have the digital dash with the PTO RPMS that I find helpful running attachments.

I bought al LX2610 2 years ago. Was going back and forth with the LX3310. I have never had a problem wishing I had gone to the LX3310. I am betting you will be please.

I ran a 4 foot cutter on an 18.5 engine hp JD 4010 for 9 years. Could cut grass up to the top of the hood of the tractor.
