Well, I was trying to get a feel for oil viscosities that others were using, alternate fluids, and the like.

Wow, hell of a way to hijack a thread.
You're right, sorry, some of this should have been posted in The Daily Chuckle.
But what oils, fluids, etc to use go into a worm hole like what is better Ford, or Chevy.
I digress, I use Rotella T6 10W-40 synthetic, and whatever High Pressure grease, currently Lucas, but not religiously. Transmission fluid Kubota SUDT2 (same stuff I use to fry fries ;))
Hope you get the responses you are looking for.

L2501 Front axle....still running the factory fill UDT2, but thinking on 80w90 or even 80w140 as the front axle has a bunch of stress at times.....I tend to pick up more than what I should.....even with a weight box in the back, I find that it wants to dolphin.
A serious response would be that the local Kubota dealer puts a gear oil in the front axle because it's less likely to leak past the seals compared to UDT2, not because of stress on the axle from use.

As for the rest of it, I don't subscribe to herd mentality for anything. It doesn't matter to me what anyone else uses, and the options are clearly listed in the owner's manual for all of these machines. Do some reading, and pick a product based on the best practices that are well established. I run a fully synthetic 5W-40 oil in all five diesel engines (two tractors, two trucks and a generator) that's made by a reputable company, and the oil meets or exceeds OEM specs for the equipment, but that's my choice and I have no interest in convincing anyone else that they should do the same.

I'm always amazed at the discussions that crop up about filters with members saying that brand A or brand B meets Kubota specs because it says so on the box and they're known to make a good filter. The only way to know for sure that a filter meets Kubota specs is to use a Kubota filter because unlike oil specs, or coolant specs, or tranmission oil specs, there are no published oil filter specs.

Are you sure? I've used T6 in 5w-40 and 15w-40, and I've seen 10w-30 advertised, and would have used it since that's what the owners manual calls for, but never saw it in a store. I'm going back to 15w, but I have some 5w left over, so I should end up with close to 10w-40.

IMO they are second to none. I use Kubota filters in all the hydraulic systems, and i used to use the Kubota filter when I used my KX91 on a daily basis for years. Not It sets most of the time.

I am not in the herd either. But sometimes general consensus works.

Just trying to get to know some folks on here is all.

@weaponoffreedom I didn’t mean to be offensive. It’s just kind of a 'running joke’, because those/these types of threads often get “heated”.

I should not have come off as such a "smart ass", to a new member. My apologies.

I use Rotella 5w40 in the engine.

All my filters are Kubota brand.

I use the SUDT2 for the hydraultics.

and lastly, Lucas “Red and Tacky” grease.

Whether or not my choices are “The Best” is a matter of debate, but in the end, It’s my machine, my money and my decision.

Lots of good people on this board and “generally” are very friendly.

Hope this helps, and welcome. 🍻 (y)

Sorry if I derailed your thread, but almost every week someone new joins Orange Tractor and asks the same question instead of doing a search to see what information is already available on here.

I use Lidl 15W-40 Diesel engine oil for the engine and Kubota SUDT hydraulic oil for the HST and Kubota filters for everything (come all together in a service kit at a good price). I could not find any of the oils mentioned in the operators manual and the Kubota oil was reasonably priced.

You have some very nice equipment and clearly are interested in keeping it all in good working condition. I look forward to reading about your projects and use, which includes maintenance.

I won't go as far as to say the Kubota filters are second to none since I don't know if that's true. What I do know is that Kubota engineers have designed their filters to work effectively with their equipment under a variety of conditions, and any other choice, particularly when it comes to hydraulic filters, assumes some amount of risk.

Oil is such an easy thing to get right since the owner's manual provides specs, and manufacturers print specs on the containers or in their literature. The same is true for hydraulic oil, gear oil, coolant etc.

Welcome aborad!

This is the way it frequently goes when very common questions are re-asked. Generally there's sufficient information (and likely the same thing we'd recommend) in the first five or six posts. Then the drift kicks in, perhaps because most of the useful information has been delivered.

The other thing that happens is providing the same information. I find myself posting the same information repeatedly on some topics only because of newbies potentially finding it useful. It isn't because my memory is failing or that I want to bore those who've been here for some time. If they find it useful - OK. If not, just scroll past it.
