Has anyone replaced their Kubota LA272 or similar model loader control with an aftermarket one? If so, which brand/model did you use and were additional fittings required? Please provide a photo if possible. I’m looking at a P40G-2A1-J from Summit Hydraulics and I believe I will also need their power beyond adapter for the line going back to the 3-point hydraulic control valve. I’m not that familiar with hydraulics and I’m concerned about running into issues with British Standard Pipe Thread (BSPT) versus American National Pipe Thread (NPT) fittings. Are older Kubota tractor hydraulics (mine is a 2003) typically BSPT? Thanks

Why do this?

The Summit valve will work but is not as full featured as OEM.

You will probably need some new fittings but they will be SAE-ORB and/or JIC. No BSP or NPT used on the OEM valve.

My OEM valve leaks profusely and the linkage is worn out. I found the Summit valve recommended in OTT forums and was considering it for the cost savings. OEM is considerably more expensive.

OK - the OEM valve is horribly expensive. Have you considered fixing the leaks or the worn parts in the linkage? I would spend $300 for that rather than the Summit valve.

I have, but I really need a new “stay valve” (75536-66110) as well that the valve itself bolts to and where the lever control (handle) attaches. Kubota wants about $400 or more just for the stay.

The stay is the mounting plate. Why does it need to be replaced and how are you going to mount the Summit valve if the stay is no good?

While it has served me well, my 2003 B7500 originally came from an equipment rental place and is thoroughly used. The hole for the lever control is wallered out and the bushing is gone. Unless there’s a good way to rebuild it, I’m stuck replacing it. The rest of the linkage is pretty worn and loose too.

Is there an o-ring rebuild kit somewhere for the control valve?

I would.think the base plate can be repaired if you can weld.

Seal kits should be available for the valve but there are mulriple different valves. Is your bucket spool 3 or 4 position?

Pardon my ignorance, but I’m not that familiar with hydraulics. How do I tell if it’s spool 3 or 4 position? Thanks

Ignorance is no shame - thats how we all come into this world :D

The 4 position valve can be moved left one slot and right two. The 3 position valve can only be moved right one.

Your boom spool has four positions - neutral, up, down, and float.

You are no longer ignorant on this matter :ROFLMAO:

Thanks 😄 I have a 3 position valve, there’s no float position.

Yea you have float, they all do... or I should say you should have float, it's probably broken.
The 4th position on the second spool is fast dump.

I have seen some of the valves and linkages that came from rentals and yea most were just worn to junk.

You are probably are better off replacing the valve.

(Edit yes Sloooow response had to make more coffee)

I have an opportunity to purchase a complete new control valve kit locally that is mostly compatible, I will just need to modify the mounting plate for my older 2-piece model. I wasn’t wanting to spend that much but based on your info and talking with the Summit Customer Care rep it sounds like the best option. Thanks for all your help Dan. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

I would like to know what you are getting locally. I doubt it provides anything the Summit valve does not.

It’s a reasonably priced complete B2056 kit for tractors without a loader to run a snowplow or other hydraulic attachment. The only difference is the mounting plate for the control valve and the arm that bolts to the tractor are one piece. I’ll need to cut the mounting plate off, drill holes, and bolt it to mine. Everything else is a direct swap, including the control valve, and it will give me all new linkage too. It sounds like the Summit valve would most likely require a lot of adapter fittings to make it work.

The part number I was given for the valve in the kit is 75536-62011. I’m trying to figure out if it’s a compatible replacement for mine that will operate my loader.

Look at this site and search for your loader model number. Then find the valve and get the part number.

There are several different valves that were used over time so three different diagrams and more than three valve part numbers (if I got to the correct place).
