Just me, or has anyone else noticed the replacement sediment filter is a metallic strainer. The filter shipped with the machines are a cellulose pleat filter. I have used both on my transfer tanks and actually prefer the cellulose filters. I know they don't last as long, but I believe they trap contaminates better. I have not been able to find the oem replacement fiber/pleat filter in the parts listings.

I think you are talking about the water separator? While it is possible a metallic screen would work, e.g. Mr Funnel, those have been treated with something to make them hydrophobic.

The part number I have on a paper copy I made from Messicks a few years ago is 1G311-43380 for an L3560HST.

Your correct water separator, im too used to old machines. Look at the attached, below is the number you posted which is what I had as well. That is a metal mesh filter. The pleated filter below is a different part number. I just wondered why the listed replacement is metal and not the cellulose like they come shipped.

I’m not saying this is the situation in THIS case.... but often a part number is superseded to accommodate a service update or product improvement. If the paper filter proved to be an issue then a service letter or program might be developed to address that issue.... Perhaps a metal screen was found to improve performance, etc.... and the end-user may not be aware of the service letter/program.

You may be on to something. The l01 series run a pleat filter in the separator. They do not have spin on fuel filters to my knowledge. The l60 is the only one that seems to have a replacement metal mesh separator filter. The l60 has a spin on fuel filter, so maybe a little less filtration by the separator doesn't matter. Both frames share CR-engines. So you would think they are picky on how clean the fuel is. Even more odd, is the l60 use a different separator than almost the entire l/m tractor lineup... It probably wouldn't bother me, if the new machines, and new separators didn't come with the pleat filter.

Seems I misspoke, the l2501 is different the larger l01's are the same water separator, so same filter. Still no spin on though.
