Reposting this again to see if it raises anyones interest level. The dealer still hasn’t figured it out after 5 weeks of being in the shop!

Hey All,

I have a 2017 L5460 HST that developed a starting issue just after changing the liters to gallons setting in the Intelligent Display (also changed the MPH at same time). I had just completed the 400 hour maintenance schedule and had a regeneration cycle completed moments before i changed the liters setting. The next day when i went to start the tractor to pull out of my shop it wouldn't turn over. I had lights on the display when the key was in the "on" position but when i turned key to the "start" position I got nothing. I also noticed that the transmission position light on the display was not visible.

I found on another forum that others had similar issues and the work-around was to press the treadle forward then backward or backward then forwards) while holding the key in the start position and it worked. Once started, i did not have the transmission gear light, nor the PTO switch light on the display when it was activated. I also lost the Throttle Advance capability. As for the PTO issue, when it's engaged the light does not show even though the shaft is turning. I was also able to start the tractor with the PTO engaged and seat tilted up (this tractor has an electronic PTO switch and not lever), which i don't think it should for safety concerns. The seat-tilt sensor seems to be working correctly because when i put seat in operational position it kills the motor.

I thought it was the computerized treadle pedal sensor switch but when i took to it to the dealer they said it tested ok. I think they just did a continuity test between the terminals and not an actual ohms/resistance so it could still be the issue? Not sure. I put a jumper on the seat sensor to test that sensor and that didn't make a difference in the starting. I looked at the transmission gear selector sensor for any obstructions and it looked fine. There might be other operator presence sensors on this tractor but i couldn't find them.

So, I'm at a loss on what's causing the starting/display light/PTO issues i am experiencing. I have found several others that had issues with the treadle neutral position switch but didn't mention the gear indicator and PTO issues i'm having so was not sure if it's a similar issue or not. The tractor has been at the dealer for 10 days and they haven't pulled it in yet to start working on it. We use the tractor daily on the farm so having it sit in the parking lot isn't helping so I'm trying other options to get the repair process kick-started.

Have anyone else experienced the same issues as mine in the past and what was the process to fix it? It sure seems like an operator presence sensor but that's been like playing a game of whack-a-mo to run that down. Is it a computer/ECU issue that was caused by changing the liters to gallons (maybe in punishment for the U.S. not adopting the metric system perhaps)? I don't see how that would create the issues i have as i went and changed it back to gallons with no difference. I did overfill the engine oil about a 1/4 qt when refilling the tractor and am wondering if that could have an impact of one of the sensors (I ran the tractor for 20 min doing the regeneration process and it seemed fine) inside of the engine? Could a faulty treadle position switch (it's located on the actual pedal and not under the floor boards) cause the other issues?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure in the settings menu there is a "calibrate pedal", have you done that?

I saw that too and tried to recalibrate after putting the pedal sensor back on and could only complete up through step two and would not let me go further. Weirdness for sure…

I'd think after 5 WEEKS( 200 man hours...), someone would have 'reset the computer' to factory configuration to see what happens ???

yessh, it was 100% fine BEFORE you changed a setting.....'reset the computer' to that config, it should be fine.
I understand what could have happened and a dealer or person with the proper laptop/software should be able to fix this in 10-15 minutes.
