Tried to start my L4701 this morning and heard a new buzzing sound behind the dashboard. I turned it off and googled it quick and saw a thread about possible battery issues. I checked the positive battery try clamp and found it was broken. I secured it and now I have a P0605 error code. The engine turns over fine but will not fire. I left the cable off for awhile and it won’t clear. Any help???

Do not know your machine.
Suggest you check all fuses carefully including two slow blow fuses which are located near battery. One is 60 amps and the other is 40.
I have this reset document another owner posted. I do not know if it would apply to your tractor

Issue: The engine may fail to start and DTC code P0605 or P0606 may appear.

Solution: If DTC P0605 is present, replace the engine ECU with the updated engine ECU for your unit per the Workshop Manual and carry out a manual DPF regeneration per the Diagnosis Manual.
If only DTC P0606 is present, update the ECU Software to the latest software and clear the DTC codes from the ECU and the instrument panel hour meter.

Call your dealer and tell them your symptoms and that you need TSB-2023-035-E-R1 performed.

My tractor is a 2016 model year. Any chance this is covered still? I did not buy it new and bought it used as is about six months ago.
It is covered for 8 years from the retail purchase date. Have your dealer input the serial number and hope it is less than 8 years.

Dealer pick up, ECU replacement, manual regen...... a pricy fix?

Is it possible to trouble shoot myself and just pop a new or used ecu in? Just brain storming if it isn’t covered by warranty.
There is nothing to troubleshoot. Yes, you could install a new ECU yourself, but you still need Diagmaster to complete the repair.
Few people have their own Diagmaster, so you will still need the dealer involved.

The one thing I do NOT like about my L4701 is Kubota doing such an unacceptably horrible job at protecting the ECU from damage caused by connection failures or internally shorted batteries that are far from uncommon. On an otherwise very thoughtfully designed machine, it’s a shocking engineering failure of which Kubota should be completely embarrassed. There is no excuse.

Why don't you just post the service bulletin number?
That way anyone will have it for use.

I brought it in last week and learned today they checked it and found the ECU was bad. They ordered a new one and am waiting on it now. The mechanic mentioned they put out a new service bulletin last week as well-not sure if he was referring to the old one or if there is a newer one out now. My tractor was built in 2016 but not sold until August 2016 so I am covered. I'll post update when I get it back. Thanks for the replies.

That 605 code has popped up a few times here. How does one change the battery without popping that code?

My 6000 lost all power on the panel one day. Traced it back to a slightly corroded slow blow fuse by battery. Probably due to the chicken shit previous owner used the tractor for. I have washed and washed the area. Project this year it’s to pull everything around the grill area, wire brush and paint. Obviously, I’ll have to disconnect the battery to get in there. Just trying to plan so this doesn’t happen.

I asked the same question. I think what happened was the battery clamp was broke, causing the ECU to read less than 12v (or whatever it's supposed to be, 14?) which caused the alternator to push too much power through the system trying to charge the battery, which then caused the ECU to fry.

Who really knows though.
