Good evening all, onto my next problem. It has become time to start puting my tractor together.

I see that Kubota sugest that I use anaerobic silicone on all the mating faces. This is proving to be a problem as I cannot find any except for Loctite around here and this is exteamly expensive.

I guess the question is will RTV do? To me it looks like RTV was used fom the facrory.

Regards Thys

The anaerobic sealant needs 2 things to solidify: Lack of oxygen as would be found in closely mating surfaces, and metal ions.

If anaerobic sealant gets into oil passages, it will not solidify and block oil flow.

Regular RTV is much more risky.

You didn't say what you were working on. Assuming it's driveline cases I believe Threebond or equivalent is spec'd. Loctite Grey Gasket Maker is the equivalent for good oil and vibration resistance. BMW and Mini dealers also carry Threebond.

Use 3 Bond. Available at any Kubota dealer and online at Messicks and Colemans.

DO NOT use RTV. Kubota uses 3 Bond exclusively when assembling new tractors.

Out of curiosity consulted the WSM and found various sealants are called out. While most are Three Bond they are not exclusive as Sika is also called out. Who knows what is used in the plant, as someone with access to their current manufacturing processes would be needed. Even my copy of the WSM could be wrong as it was published years ago.

From L4740-3 WSM:
Three Bond 1206D or equivalent
Three Bond 1215 or equivalent
Three Bond 1217H or equivalent
Three Bond 1211 or equivalent
Three Bond 1208C or equivalent
Three Bond 1372 or equivalent
Three Bond 1342B or equivalent
Sika Tack-Ultrafast

The OP could help themselves out by being more specific in what they are working on (specific parts in question).

Below are the "Kubota" branded gasket makers/sealants from their workshop products brochure available AT THIS LINK. Right two in picture say "OEM specified".

Only know what my Kubota mechanic tells me and he says no 'Blue Glue' so I use 3 Bond (and so does he). Not into the chemical composition, into what he recommends.

Hi all, thanks for the replies thus far. Sorry if I was not clear in my question. My tractor was bought as spares. I tore it down as it is basically one big oil leak. The motor is fine thus not toutched. From the bell housing to the back it is split at each point in the drive line, and now has to go together. Most sealers are scarce in our country and importing is a 50/50 afair as our postal service suck. The clutch housing contained nearly half of my hydrolic flued.

Unfortuanately only one importer in South Africa and certain things they dont bring in and do not stock. I'll have a chat with them, if they can get hold of it which threebond? 1206 / 8 D?

Thanks again Thys

First, try to look beyond the myopic opinions that include incorrect information.

From the picture on the Messicks site, it looks like 1206D.
If it's not available due to being on another part of the planet, refer to post #3 .... "or equivalent "
