Greetings all-

I have a new to me L39 with 800hrs.

With the stabilizers down, I can't lift the front of the tractor with the loader tilt function.

With the stabilizers up, the tilt function will pickup the front of the tractor no problem.

Backhoe function seems fun and it seems pretty impressive compared to my old L35.

I hate problems like these but any recommendations would be great. I purchased new hydraulic filters and will swap them out and see if it changes anything.

Thanks for the help!

Check your hydraulic fluid level with all actuators retracted - stabilizers, too. This puts all the fluid back into the reservoir. If you check with actuators extended you may over fill.

Check out the attached picture, the oil level is low. Since the tractor is new to me and I plan to have for a while, I'm going to change the fluid and filters rather than just top off. Although I sure would like confirmation that there isn't anything wrong with the hydraulics....

Do you thing this level would cause low tilt force?

Need pressure readings to know if there's a problem or not. Keep in mind that it might have 2000 lbs lifting capacity but it won't have near that much down force. Hydraulic bias.

A few simple physics facts to keep in mind.

When the stabilizers are up and you use the bucket to lift the front of the tractor, the tractor pivots around the contact patch of the rear tires.

This pivoting is aided by the weight of the backhoe which is behind the contact patch of the rear tires.

Once the stabilizers are down the geometry changes completely. Now the pivoting with the bucket will be happening around the stabilizers which are further away from the bucket than the rear tire contact patch. Also, some of the backhoe weight is now carried by the stabilizers so there is less counter weight effect as you lift the front of the tractor.

In short, what you are experiencing is normal.
