Hi everyone I am new to the forum and new to Kubota. I am finally going to pull the trigger on a new tractor and am looking at the L3800 and the L4600. My old tractor is a 2400A international that has more than paid it's dues.

I will be using the tractor for bush hogging, pulling trees and anything else that comes up. I have 60 acres and in spots it gets pretty swampy at times. I am stuck on which one to get at this point. Have any of you that have the L3800 moved round or large square bales of hay with it? I have read some of the threads on here and have not seen much on the lifting power of the front bucket.

Thanks for your help.

I have the L3800 that I use on 9 acres and its been perfect so far.

My opinion would be to get the larger of the 2 for 60 acres.

8 hp doesn't sound like a big difference but in reality it's more than a 20% increase in horsepower. Also, the L4600 has taller and wider tires which will help to put that extra hp to the ground in wet conditions. I also was considering either the L3800 or the L4600. I own 40 hilly acres and I chose the L4600. No regrets at all. Not knocking the L3800. It's a fine tractor too, but up to a point bigger is usually better. YMMV.

I will add my voice to go bigger, looking at them on the lot goes a long way in determining ergonomics etc., but does little in the way of judging capabilities.

I know from personal experience that tractors shrink once on site ans with a few hours on them. I went looking for a L3540 thinking it would be fine. My wife talked me into going bigger and a cab; sure glad I listened.

I was in the same boat. Both the 3800 and 4600 looked like fine tractors. After many hours of searching and looking at the specifications of both, I decided to go with the 4600. I have not received yet, but hope to in another 4 weeks or so. I chose the standard ag tires with the two wheel gear drive no loader. I purchased it with a Woods 72 inch grooming mower. I can hardly wait till it arrives!!

I choose the L3800 and should be taking delivery this Friday. I have 22 acres but 10 of which is ag. I will be using the tractor to mow and clear the property for a grass runway in the next year. Can't wait to get started!

With 60 acres, and talking about big bales, I'd go for the larger tractor. You gain about 500 lbs of weight, and over 500 lbs of lifting capability. You also gain half a foot of width, for stability, and much larger tires.
Speaking of tires, I regret having R4s.

Well I went with the L4600 HST. Figured might as well go big or go home. Should be here by Friday. Have a lot of work that needs to be done or so my wife says!

I spent a little more than I planned and got a new tiller, forks and box blade. But the boss of the house gave the stamp of approval so let the fun begin! I have a ton of brush hogging to do and close to 25 downed trees to get pulled out and cut up.

Well the tractor is here and had some hours put on it now. Real liking this tractor a lot, the HST is great. Also glad I went with the L4600 the size is just about perfect for what I wanted. Thanks for help.

I'm SOOO jealous! I wish I had more land, just so I could have a bigger tractor! Don't forget to send PICTURES. We love pictures!

Hello All,
I have had the tractor for a few months now and I am very happy with it. We have been pounded with cold & snow this year and the tractor has started every time. The HST makes move all the snow a breeze. So far this is a great tractor.

4-wheel drive, HST is a must. A little bigger is better than "just too small". We have 2.2 ac. and I think my L4600 is not too big and not too small. The weather has keep me from putting much time on my new tractor but the time I have on her has been really fun and decided it's the perfect size........steve104c

2.2 acres?! I have 400 acres and my L3200 has handled everything I've thrown at it with ease! Do you have any big projects planned with your property?
