Hi all. Little back story I am buying a 2008 l3400 off the father in law. He has just upgraded to a 7060 and has offered it to me at the price offered for trade in. Now we were both aware that it has a coolant leak that we were convinced was a head gasket. (Nothing in the oil or transmission.) Upon arrival of the new tractor we had it all tore down and low and behold found a cracked head. I guess my question is where do I start looking for a replacement head in canada. Is there reputable replacement parts or is it a dealer only ordeal. I have seen a few posts about Chineseium heads but I'm very reluctant to wander down that path. We don't want to cut any corners but in the same breath don't want to be ripped off Any information is appreciated

There is a quirk to that model of tractor, they actually used 2 different engines during production.
So to start with, you need to get the tractors serial number and the Engine model and serial number.
The engine model and serial number can be found stamped on the flat just to the side of the injection pump facing up.

NIW is amazing. TD says that in 2008 the L3400 switched from a 1.6L engine to a 1.8L engine….and at a glance that’s not immediately obvious.
