Which line would you recommend to test flow? Would the PB block (out) to FEL (in) work? (Top right fitting in picture)

I want a new filter before I dump fluid in and perform a flow test so I'll pause here till one day this week.
For the first test I would us the same work port on the loader valve you used for pressure and a clean 5g bucket. That way you can easily start and stop a timed flow. You only have 7+ gallons in the tractor...

@76scoutman and @TheOldHokie

I can’t be 100% sure but I don’t see a screen on that pickup tube, but I think I see one on theoldhokie’s picture in post #13. I doubt that it really matters since it is filtered through the spin on filter.

1) Is there a screen on either of the pick up tubes?
2) Would it make any difference if the screen is missing?

I would have excepted to see something finer that that opening size to keep larger debris out of the tube.

So I suggest that you run a string with a small piece of rag through the tube while it is off. Just to be sure it is open.
Good point. I was wondering about the differences in the pictures.

There was a lot of junk in that filter so it will be interesting to see what if any effect a new one has.....

Ok, I was able to pick up a new hydraulic filter earlier this week ($63!!). I got it installed last night, ensured that all of the fittings I took apart were secured again, and refilled the case with fluid. After running the engine for a few minutes I tested out the hydraulics and got nothing. No steering, no lift, nothing. Is there a procedure to purge the air out of the hydraulic system or a way to prime the pump?

When I was getting the filter, I was talking to one of the guys behind the counter and he took interest in the point where the hydraulic level was low and the oil level was high. He said there are 2 o-rings and a seal that separate the 2 systems at the end of the pump where it attaches to the drive gear of the engine. If I run out of options, I'll be digging into that further. He printed out the diagrams for me as well.

The system will.purge itself. Before jumping to any conclusions check for hydrauluc flow at the outlet block.

Did a flow test with the help of my son. I removed the line that comes out of the pb block and heads up to the fel controlls. Our rough estimate is 3.5-4 gal in the 5 gal bucket in 1 minute. Removing that line must have been enough to get things flowing again because on first check (after reconnecting line and refilling the system) things seem to be back to normal. Pressure looked good at 2300psi at 2k rpm. I'll clean things up and do a final function check and report back with conclusion.

The rated flow is 6 3 GPM. What was the engine RPM during the flow test?

I let the tractor run for a while to get fully up to temp and then cool down again to let it purge any air that may still be in the system. All functions seem to be working as they should. Steering, 3ph, and FEL all feel good so I'm going to call this one fixed. One last check of levels and they all look good too. I'm sending off an oil sample for analysis and if I get ambitious I may cut open the filter that I replaced to see how bad it was.

Thanks all for the help in getting this resolved.
