I got a L3010D HST from a friend a couple years ago because it had no throttle and would run wide open. I starting taking covers off to inspect the injection pump rack to find out in was off the governor arm (seen in the first picture). In the picture you will see no springs but they have been removed for pictures, but ordered new springs to try before moving to the next step.
I was thinking easy fix well something is jacked up because the Governor Arm only catches at the very top of the rack pin and once you run it for awhile it will jump off and begin to run wide open as the injection rack pushes forward. Something is either bent or damaged because the articulation of the governor arm will not go far enough up to keep the rack pin from jumping out.

Has anyone ran into this issue?

My next step is to take the front timing cover off to inspect everything but ran into an issue getting the cover clear of the frame rail. Whats the easiest way to either hinge the front end from the engine to give me clearance to get the front cover off or do i have to remove it completely?

Any info would be helpful and thanks forward!!

You need to drop the front frame and block up the engine to remove the front cover.

Do you have the WSM (aka Service manual)?
If not go to kubotabooks.com and download the two part manual for it.
The WSM will help with details.

I have seen a time or two where someone had the pump out and didn't get it lined back up going back in. Rack pin bent, sits in the fork at the very top. Sometimes it sticks open or closed depends on the position it decides to get stuck in. Is there any up/down play in the rack pin? Shouldn't be any, but it should move side to side freely.

Thanks and after getting timing cover off all looks good inside from the front. The governor lever is still very low even after its all the way against the front gear. I then try to just bend the governor arm back up and it started to align or go high enough in the rack. This leave me to believe someone was in here and damaged the arm or some how bent it down.

I'm going to order all new parts in this area just to be safe and that I have it all apart.

I need to get the injection governor gear off to get the levers off. I see a few marks on the gears but never been this far in this engine and will need someone to tell me how the timing marks all align. Mark 1 dot, 2 dots, 3 dots and 4 dots.

I've spun the engine over about 10 times and can seem to get any marks to align up. do i just keep spinning it till the timing marks all align?
