My tractor is having a serious problem with reverse and I am clueless as to what/why it is happening. When I put it in reverse, I am no longer getting anywhere near the speed I had been getting. It’s down to less than half a mile per hour. Hydrostatic transmission, forward seems fine. Changing from low to medium I get increased speed going forward but no change in reverse.

Could be as simple as a linkage issue, or could be as serious as an HST failure.
Good starting point would be reading the trouble shooting section in the WSM (aka Service Manual).
If you don't have the WSM just ask.

Workshop service manual totally overloaded my poor brain with more information than I could wade through ;) But that was when I was trying to get basic information about operating and owner service stuff. I'll revisit for this specific topic and see where it gets me;) Thank you.

Look at page 3-NS6
If that doesn't fix it, then you'll need to take it to a dealer to test the pressures.
It could very well be a damaged relief valve.
Fairly easy external repair.
