hi guys, i have a kubota l2850 that starts fine no matter what time of the year, it only has 21xx hours on it and is a great tractor. i have it hooked to a 4 foot drag bush hog and it does well with it. The other day i went out to cut grass and weeds that were about the height of the tractor. i forget what gear i was in but i was running for about an hour and a half until it started to die on me. i shut the pto off and started heading for home. but it died. i sat in the field for probably 15 to 20 minutes before i tried it. i got it to run, but i had no throttle, and i had to be at least half throttle in order to keep it running at idle, after about 15 seconds of idle running at full throttle it started to climb in rpms until it reached about 1800 then which i let off and it was fin on throttle but very low on power, as in i had to go to 2nd low in order to get going, i ran it about 2 minutes back to my garage which then it died again. i got it into the garage with my wheeler and haven't touched it since i got this tractor off of my grandfather a few years back and he recalls it doing the same thing about 5 to 6 years ago, he told me that he kept running it and it cleared up. i am thinking this is a fuel related issue, i just changed the air filter, and it starts great in cold weather so it must have good compression. even when sitting all winter it doesn't smoke at all when starting or at any load range. any help is appreciated, thanks

If you think it's a fuel issue you could try putting a bucket under the fuel filter, removing the filter, and seeing if you get a steady flow and for how long. This will give an indication of potential blockage within the fuel tank. Sometimes algae will grow in there and prevent fuel from getting out.

Sounds like to me that it might be overheating on you.

Have you checked that the radiator fins are clean front and back, and that it clean and full of antifreeze / coolant?

I know it isnt overheating, the temp gauge is wprking and it stays right in the middle all the time, i almost know that it is fuel related, but my question is, why when it finally does start, why dont i have any throttle input?
