l2550 overheat....

ran an l2550 in a food plot yesterday and while disking (I probably should have had it in low but ran it in high first/second gear)...it overheated and steamed at radiator and shut down....let it sit for an hour to cool down and started right up. just wondering what your thoughts are as far as replacing the thermostat? new to tractoring and Im learning...thanks

don't run it without a thermostat.

Check fluid quality and quantity, Bad or low antifreeze / coolant can cause issues.
Check the radiator cap, a bad cap can cause it to not hold the proper pressure and dump fluid.
Check the fan belt for proper fan action
Check that the radiator fins or screen isn't plugged front and back.
