L2501 HST Treadle Adjustment

I have a 2019 L2501, HST, with 300 hours. It’s not a speed demon but it seems lately it isn’t moving as fast as it once did at same RPM with or without load, especially in Medium (it has L-M-H range). I’m not talking bogging down or loss of power it just seems slower than before. WSM indicates top speed in M is 6.2 MPH. I clocked it using an app with a light load on front forks and an ever so slight rise. It indicated upper 3s to exactly 4 mph. At these speeds it seems even 1 mph is noticeable. Also, I don’t recall ever bottoming the treadle on the stop like I do now.

The WSM shows treadle linkage(s) but I’m not sure if any adjustments to any of it, and to what exactly, would increase the speed incrementally. I don’t want to throw off the pedal coming back to neutral for the safety switch, either.

Check to see how you are doing with the Hydraulic fluid and filter changes.

I doubt it's the linkage, but you could inspect it visibly and look for any nuts that have backed out or bolts that hold the plates are loose.

Also, have you noticed a reduction of max RPM?

How is your Reverse speed? Has that changed? A lot of times if the speed changes on the pedal in forward by slowing down because the pedal isn’t moving enough anymore, then reverse speed will increase.

Is rear tire pressure low? If it's too low, there can be slippage between the tire and rim. If the engine/HST, etc. is all running normally but ground speed is slower than normal, that's another possibility..

if your like me i need to clean dried mud from under the peddle on a regular basis. this means i gotta pull mat up and clean in there really good. low hydro fluid level also contributes.

Jimh406 - I stick to maintenance schedule religiously. It calls for air and fuel filter to be cleaned every 100 hours. Given my dusty area, I added the smaller, internal air filter and blow out the larger one often. I tend to change it out the external one every 75 hours or so. I’d have to check my log but probably changed it 4 times in the 300 hours. I change out the fuel filter every 100 hours, too. Actually time to do that as the hours are really just short of 300 hours. I haven’t noticed a change in max RPM But I’ll check that this weekend.

I changed hydraulic filters at 50 and 200 hours. I even changed the fluid at 200 hours. Level is where it should be in sight glass every time before I board it. Oil and coolant levels, too.

Run with scissors - not a SA comment as I was notorious for leaving the parking brake on from time to time the first couple of months that I owned it. Finally got in the habit of pushing the brake pedals before I start it now. Plus, if I forget, I notice the higher pitched whine when I first start to move and I catch myself quickly.

BAP - I haven’t really paid attention when I back up as I’m usually backing up to implements so not moving fast. I’m 2 hours from the tractor. I’ll try to test it this weekend though not sure I’ll notice since I don’t back up at speed. I can use the app to compare speed to what manual says it will do in reverse.

Grandad4 - I’ll check this weekend. Rears are loaded and pressure should be 14 psi. Thanks for the suggestion. Curious, if loaded and they slipped would I not see fluid leaks around rim?

JonM - my land is mostly sandy loam. Running into mud issues would be rare. Actually never had to wash mud off of it. Have to blow dust off it quite often, though.
