Hey guys,
New tractor buyer here. Just bought 15 acres and going to build our dream home on it... woohoo!

To maintain the farm I was first looking at a BX23S just because it comes with the backhoe as a package... But further doing my homework it seems like the L2501 seems to be more up my alley. Primary use will be mowing the land, not many trees.

1) To get the job done quicker I was thinking of the 6' LP bush hog, can the 2501 handle it? Even if the grass gets to be 3,4 ft tall?

2) Got a quote from a local dealer used.

2016 L2501 HST
Quick attach LA525
standard seat
R4
No rubber floor mat
Full warranty until Dec. 2018 the one more year of Powertrain warranty.
119 hrs
No implements included
$14450 delivered.

Please give me your thoughts!
Thanks.

That's not a bad price, but you can get a new one for just a little more with a full warranty and much better financing if needed.

And no it will not have enough HP to run a 6 foot brush hog in 3 to 4 foot weeds, you need to stay in the 5 foot range.

Kubota currently has 0% APR for 5 years if that helps your decision. Depending on the condition, you should be paying around 60% the original retail price so they are actually a bit high.

My guy at the dealer recommended getting the floors professionally bed lined. Being used to the Grand L myself, I was surprised to see just bare metal so I see where you're getting at. I am still undecided about bed lining my future tractor.

There's a YouTube video of a guy taking out some brush in Louisiana that seemed to be about what you're talking about. He was going a little too fast for my liking since you can clearly hear the engine lugging, but the tractor seemed to do okay.

I agree with Wolfman.

Too much rotary cutter for a 2501. Too heavy and not enough HP.

Forget R4's and get R1'a R4's are for suburbanite work and that little unit won't run a LP 6 foot chopper. Not enough oooomph and too much implement weight.

I just bought a 7 footer for my M9. and that is marginal.

Do yourself a favor and get a large frame unit.

I purchased a new L2501 HST, Loader w/SSQA, Quick hitch on the back and 5' box blade yesterday for $18,615 from Crystal Tractor in DeLand, FL

Kubota has 0% APR for 84 months right now, if you put 20% down. Unfortunately, the HST model wasn't included, but they did give me 1.7% financing, which is almost free over 7 years.
