L Series Speed Selector HELP!!!

I have an L2600DT. Last week the hi/low speed selector switch that is tied to the shaft broke at the bracket. I purchased a new switch and installed it today. Unfortunately it still will not go into either gear. This is a manual tractor, so effectively tractor is in neutral at the gear box. The speed selector has no resistance to it like it used to have as well

If the roll pin isn't missing or sheared off, you'll be in for a split to repair either the fork or the gears.

Appreciate the reply. Roll pin still there. Looking under the seat, looks like the top access panel comes off there to get to the fork.
