My tractor is shutting off after about 10 minutes. When I try to turn it back on the solenoid on the fuel pump is clicking on and off quickly. I put a stethoscope on to make sure. I know sometimes it can be something other than the obvious so I hope someone has some experience with this as the solenoid is $157 and I only like to fix something once. Which is rarely.

I see I got 29 reads out of this so I assume I'm to test the solenoid to see if it is working correctly. I see a difficulty in this as when I turn the ignition on for the first time of the day the solenoid acts normally. It's only after 10 minutes or so that it starts behaving badly. I can only assume that heat is the culprit that starts the misbehaving as the only other possible culprit would be slight bouncing, that I can think of anyway. So that is what I'll do as soon as the rain quits.

I had trouble with my 9000 not cutting off with the key. And if I pulled the manual cut off it would leave dash light on even with the key off. I'll go ahead and warn you that this sounds stupid. I did nothing but unplug the harness that goes into the fuel shut off and blew it out, plugged it right back up and everything worked fine.

I have been told it only takes a spec of dirt in one of these plugs and it can make it loose propper contact which can cause problems. It may not help you any but it doesn't cost anything to try.

Thanks, I wouldn't have checked that. Now I will.

After disconnecting a connector be sure and go back with a dab of silicone waterproof 'electrical connector', 'dielectric', or 'plumber's bib, sillcock, or stem' grease. All the same stuff if it says 'silicone'. I get mine at plumbing wholesaler for $1 a tablespoon in a little pillbox container. Best stuff going to have around. Avoid hydrocarbon-base greases as can be contaminated over time and may weaken wiring.

Didn't think of that, thanks, I'll do that for sure.
