I own a Kubota L-185DT with a Model 1200 bucket loader on it that my uncle left to me, seeing what hydraulic valve body I can replace my current original one with, pretty sure it’s original and every time I fix it, it breaks or starts leaking again, just want to replace it and keep it stored for parts,

thanks in advance

Any open center valve with a power beyond adapter will work.
Ideally you want one with about a 5gpm capacity, but you'll most likely will only find higher capacity valves.

North Idaho wolfman,

Thanks for the info I down loaded a owners manual for the model 1200 and there’s nothing in it about hydraulic valve body or anything, thought that was kind of weird, is it the high the gpm’s the faster the system will work?

Normally yes the higher the GPM's, the faster the system will work.
But in your case you are capped by the speed of your pump somewhere in the 3 to 5gpm rate.
And using a Spool valve with a higher GPM capacity will make it where you will lose fine function.
It's not a killer but it's something to be mindful of.

First question - is the loader running off the tractor hydraulics or does it have its own pump? I am goung to assume its tractor hydraulics.

There are plenty of inexpensive choices fir control valves. I think you will want a joystick valve with a fourth position float on the boom spool. Thats a major step up from the original. Here is a popular loader valve from one of our OTT vendors. It has SAE ports and the power beyond conversion sleeve has to be purchased separately.

That P40 design is manufactured and sold by a lot of different vendors and you can find them for half or less of the one I linked. Be careful - they often have BSPP ports, no float position, and no power beyond sleeve, That can become a costly and aggravating added expense.

Your loader is connected to the tractor's hydraulic outlet block on the left side of the lift cover but its missing the power beyond option in the loader control valve.

The Vevor valve will work but it does not have a float position on the boom spool. You also need the power beyond conversion sleeve and a separate tank return line to go with it.

I would recommend spending the extra money for a valve with float and upgrade to a joystick model while at it.

The plug I have circled in blue on the side of your current valve is the power beyond port. It should have a conversion sleeve in it and be connected to the return on the outlet block instead of the tank return hose just above it. That tank return hose should be be connected directly to the sump instead of the block. This would be a good time to replace those old cracked hoses as well.

Your tractor has a port for the tank return to connect to. It is BSPP (G 3/8) if my memory serves me correctly. Here is that port in yellow highlight

So what you are saying Dan is that I can take the hose on top of the power beyond port and put it to the power beyond port ? If I’m understanding you correctly?

Thay is not what I am saying. Your valve is currently connected to the tractor hydraulics with 2 hoses and it should be 3.

  1. The top hose should be disconnected from the outlet block and reconnected to the return @Russell King highlighted.
  2. The plug in the side should be removed and rrplaced with a power beyond conversion sleeve. Then a new hose run from the sleeve to the outlet block.

That is not going to happen because that sleeve is probably NLA. But when you install a replacement valve thats how it should be connected.
