Hello
I am new to this forum and look forward to reaping the knowledge of other Kubota owners. I have a question about lubricants for my tractor. I recently purchased a used B2710 tractor with a backhoe. The tractor has 350 hours on it and is in great shape physically. This tractor hasn't been serviced for a while and I would like to change all the fluids and filters on it. My question is, Do I need to run factory Kubota lubricants like the super UDT trans/hydraulic fluid, or are there other lubricants out there that would be less money and do the job just as well? And what is the recommended oil for the engine? I live in Maine and the summer temps run in the 60's to 80's most of the time.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the machine . For filters use Kubota . Engine oil , your choice , Kubota 15w40w or shell rotella of the same weight are my two choices . If your machine is hst then use Kubota super udt2 . Have fun and be careful .

I use Amsoil 5w30 heavy duty diesel oil in the engines and Amsoil universal tractor trans/hyd fluid. No it's not cheaper but it has 3x the service life. My $.02

I agree with both of the previous posts - IF still under warranty run all K stuff, even though they cannot say anything to you if something goes wrong.

I will be changing to the S-UDT2 stuff in mine soon, and will be running Shell Rotella in it when the engine when it is needed again. But I will also be using K's filters throughout

My BX had bad service by the previous owner.
First changed all the fluids with K UDT to flush the system. Then went to SUDT2. Big improvement in operation. SUDT2 makes the HST and hyd. quieter and no issues in winter use.

I use Rotella T6 in the engine. Cranks real smooth in the coldest winters.

Good luck with your new machine.

You don't "need" to use Kubota lubricants or filters if you can find compatible. Filter prices from Kubota are pretty competitive with other high quality filters. SUDT2 is a little pricey. However, would you want to use a HST fluid that is suitable for a tractor made in the 70's or 80's because it is a bit cheaper? Any other good, modern HST fluid you may find won't necessarily be less expensive than the SUDT2. You don't change it but every 400 hours or so anyway. Motor oil is your choice of diesel oils. Rotella T6 5w40 synthetic is used by a lot of Kubota owners, including me. Also don't forget the air filter.
There is the probability that you won't find some cross referenced other brands of filters and will have to buy Kubota. Your tractor wasn't cheap, good maintenance isn't either.
Do this first maintenance on your "new to you" tractor by the book with factory parts. After you have it for a while, you can make other decisions if you want to. Don't forget, this time you need to change out everything all at once. In the future you will be changing this now, that in 200 more hours, etc, etc. The $ bite won't be so big all at once.
