My tractor came with a category 1 top link. After a few months it became a wrestling match to adjust. Even with proper greasing! I got another one same thing. So I'm upgrading to a category 1 & 2 from a m series to see if it will be any better. Anyone had this problem?

Check to see if the threaded portions have mashed or bent areas in them. Only way is to dis-assemble, and roll the threaded portion on a known flat surface. Easiest thing to do to prevent problem is to take a die grinder, and cut a groove, across all threads on a new toplink, and smear it good, with never-seize compound, and re-assemble...:D:D

I turned it to where it was all the way extended. it should have come apart but it wouldn't. I checked the threads jus a few at the hook up end 1 inch down were bend. It was greased with marine grease lol... Idk .. I even took the grease fittings out after wrestling it as far as it seemed to go & almost out of aggravation got the torch after the bugger. My vise is mounted to a steel table & anchored to the concrete. It broke a red head that was shot into the floor holding the table. never heard of cutting a groove so the grease will run down it as you grease it? Cause when you grease a regular one it jus stays inn. There till you adjust it & can build pressure causing adjustment problems also.

I experienced something similar, dont recall what implement, but i raised it too high and bent top link. Once bent they are junk.

There is a pin inside the top link through the end of the threaded portions.
You may be able to see the pin through a hole or grease port on the center portion

The one I ordered was for a m series it was missing the grease fittings but is much more heavy-duty a lot easier to use. Has. Category 1 where it hooks to the tractor & category 2 where you hook to equipment. I will clean them up & look for the pin. My neighbors look at me funny cause I have a 6 ft disc, 7 ft Bush hog, 6 ft tiller & 6 or 7 ft soil leveler I use with my tractor. I may be in turtle speed but i don't push it past it's limits. I like to get it done & go on to my next project. I have a grapple attachment I use also. You don't have to have a 100 hp tractor to make money.

I have two top links for my L3000 set at different lengths so between the 2 of them and 3 holes to choose from on the tractor I never adjust mine.

Never thought of that! If I can get mine unfroze I'll set them for couple pieces of equipment. Great idea! Thanks
