Mine has the guard. It was there before the grill guard was installed by the dealer and remained after. My L 2501 was purchased new March 2018.

My 2501 has the guard in front of the front tie rods. Purchased this machine in December 2018.

I'm beginning to think my dealer screwed me with a sloppy assembly. I've ordered the part and it is $44, but when it comes in I may have a conversation with my salesman / service department. It's not a lot of money, but I'm also buying a replacement zerk as well that I shouldn't have to.

Thanks for all the pics and reports.

I doubt it's still hanging around since I bought my 2501 in early May. I expect them to make this right. I'm hoping the models out front all have the guards on them.

My first post here though following for a while.

My 2501, purchased April 2019, has the plate.

Mine did not have the guard. I went to the dealer's and asked where it was. Nobody knew until one guy came in and sez: "Heck, we got a bunch of them in the shop"...and he went and got me one. It was kinda difficult to install as the grill is very heavy. I used a hoist to hold it up and finally got it.
I think this thing is very important and could prevent some heartache.

Was this after you saw this thread?

I think maybe something needs to be said to Kubota about dealers taking this guard off when they put the FEL brush guard on. I'm not sure why they would think that it needs to come off.

I just checked my L2501 - delivered about 4 weeks ago and no plate. I'll be talking to my dealer.

As I understand, the tractors are shipped with the plate but without the brush guard attached. It seems that when some dealers install the brush guard, they leave the plate off. Not good.

What in the world would be the reasoning behind some dealers leaving the guard off because it seems to me a tractor with a FEL has even MORE need of the guard being on? Just being lazy? Kubota FEL instructions omit instructing reinstalling the guard? mdhughes is probably right in that someone should contact Kubota because this isn't an isolated occurrence.

Purchased my L2501 June 2019. The guard is also missing on mine. I was not aware of the guard until I saw this thread. I guess I need to make a trip to the dealer and tell them I want the guard that was left off my tractor.

The reason could be the bolts. It looks like the factory bolts that go through the guard might not be long enough to go through the brush guard AND bumper. The dealer might have to supply 4 new longer bolts and possibly they are too cheap or lazy.

I'd argue that of the two, the brush guard and the bumper shield, the bumper is far more important. The brush guard is fairly useless until it is filled with expanded or perforated metal to prevent puncture of the radiator etc.

I would have to disagree, the purpose of the brush guard is to protect the hood and grill from getting smashed when you get too close dumping the bucket into your truck/trailer/spreader.

I’d also disagree. Both are important. See my post #59...brush guard did it’s job.
