Another pro on the drive over deck is that they are probably fabricated a little more HD than the standard decks. I've done enough repairs for neighbours on their JD's and Club Cadets to want to avoid paper thin and stamped decks at all costs. Lots of fatigue prone areas around spindles and broken welds around brackets for scalp wheels and lift points.

Otherwise Drive over decks are a Gimmick.
Overrated is a certain green-brand's "auto connect". Particularly that 4-spline auto-connect PTO. Ours rattled like crazy from new, and finally we just went old-school and put in a regular manual connect shaft.

I've always kind of hated drive over decks. I literally just take decks loose, maybe lift the front end with the loader if i need too, then just pull it out the side. Quicker and easier than drive on, which most of the time your tires are just going to make the thing skid around on the ground, and you got to get on and off the tractor a couple of times to reposition the thing. Have no experience with this new easy-on thing though, but just looking at it, looks complicated and expensive to fix what to me at least is a non-issue. I always worry when you add unneeded complication to what is supposed to be a simple machine, always causes issues in the future with maintenance and adjustment and all that.

I don't what colour the deck is, when you don't CLEAN underneath and keep hitting 'obstacles', the decks don't last very long.....

I've got a 25 year old CC rider (MTD..) still going strong, deck GREAT and I have a spare as well( 2 became one).

My BX I used to pull out the side (hard work), or I'd lift the front wheels with the loader, then pull it out forwards by hand (a bit easier).

On the B the deck is heavier than I want to lug around. Driving over it is easy, and it never skids around. To be fair, I do it on the lawn, so it's hardly going to go anywhere. I can just drive over it without the ramps, but I tend to put them out because they're there.

Lining it up when you put it back on used to be a real bear. Then I worked out that Kubota had already taken care of that for me, I just didn't pay attention. If you lower the lift arms before you drive over, they have a little funnel on them that auto aligns the deck as you drive into it. And if you look over the side far enough you can actually see the arms, so I jump off, unsnap the latches, then jump back on and lift/lower the arms a bit, jiggle back and forward on the HST a bit, and they pop in all on their own. The only annoying bit is attaching the drive shaft, and that's way easier on the B than the BX, because it's a good few inches higher off the ground.

My experience — don’t do it if you have rough terrain and plan to use your tractor for other work in the summer. I’ve had this tractor for three years, and the Easy Over system worked great the first year. Since then, it’s been a nightmare. Because the linkage stays attached to the tractor the whole time (you can remove it, but it takes hours — which defeats the purpose of “Easy Over”), it’s vulnerable when using other attachments like a box blade or backhoe. At some point — I can’t remember if it was while box blading or backhoeing — the linkage got slightly bent. From then on, the Easy Over never worked properly. I had a service tech manually straighten it, but even after that, it constantly needed pulling and adjusting to get it lined up so the pin would lock properly when I drove over. The next summer, I hit a large rock (again while box blading, I think), and the already weakened linkage completely bent. After that, it was beyond repair. I’m in Canada, and the replacement linkage has been quoted at around $1,000. At this point, I’m seriously considering switching to the standard mid-mount mower just to avoid more linkage issues in the future.

Does anyone have experience with the new "easy over mower deck"? This is the model that allows you to drive over the deck to install it. It is model # RCK540-26BX-1. I have watched the videos of how to drive over and attach it to the tractor and also remove it from the tractor. My questions are do they work as well as the videos show? I am looking for real-world experiences with this mower deck.

No experience with the model in the video but I have had a so-called drive over 60" deck for my 1994 B1750 for over 30 years and after trying the drive over method once or twice have never tried doing so again. Deck simply rolls away unless I build ramps from wood blocks which sometimes works.

I simply drive my tractor upon a layer or two of 2X6s beneath each wheel and remove/install the deck from the right side. Using this method I can either remove or install the deck in about 20 minutes.
