Hi there, I'm new to Orange Tractor Talks and also new to diesel tractors. I have a Kubota B1402-M that I'm worried I may have messed up somehow and am looking for advice on diagnosing and potentially repairing the problem.
There was an oil leak between the throttle linkage plate and the fuel pump plate on the engine (D850) that I was trying to seal. I removed the throttle linkage plate and popped up the fuel pump plate so I could reseal them with a new gasket. I actually wasn't able to get the fuel pump out all of the way so I used a high temp silicone spray designed for making gaskets. For the fuel linkage plate I just made a new gasket out of standard gasket material.
When I reassembled everything and started the engine up it immediately started going about as fast as it possibly could. I pulled the decompression plug immediately. I let it sit overnight but it did the same thing the next morning. Again, I pulled the plug after a few seconds because I didn't want to cause any additional damage.
It looks like I may have messed up the governor or something but when I look back in side everything looks the same. I didn't really have to do anything inside the engine so I'm a bit lost as to where I went wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also, going to a certified mechanic or dealer is almost completely out of the question for me so I'd like as much info as I can get.
