Hi there, I'm new to Orange Tractor Talks and also new to diesel tractors. I have a Kubota B1402-M that I'm worried I may have messed up somehow and am looking for advice on diagnosing and potentially repairing the problem.

There was an oil leak between the throttle linkage plate and the fuel pump plate on the engine (D850) that I was trying to seal. I removed the throttle linkage plate and popped up the fuel pump plate so I could reseal them with a new gasket. I actually wasn't able to get the fuel pump out all of the way so I used a high temp silicone spray designed for making gaskets. For the fuel linkage plate I just made a new gasket out of standard gasket material.

When I reassembled everything and started the engine up it immediately started going about as fast as it possibly could. I pulled the decompression plug immediately. I let it sit overnight but it did the same thing the next morning. Again, I pulled the plug after a few seconds because I didn't want to cause any additional damage.

It looks like I may have messed up the governor or something but when I look back in side everything looks the same. I didn't really have to do anything inside the engine so I'm a bit lost as to where I went wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also, going to a certified mechanic or dealer is almost completely out of the question for me so I'd like as much info as I can get.

Are you sure you've listed the correct model because B1402-M won't come up as model on Kubota parts site?

When u put the side plate on, u missed the pin on the pump..
The throttle linkage has to engage the pin on the pump.. u missed it..
Its not a big deal, just pull the plate off again & move the rack on the pump to engage the linkage..
Good luck.. TPG

When you pulled the front throttle plate , did you disconnect the spring, and then reconnect it?

Now for the really bad news, you can not use any gasket sealer on the injection pump, it has shim under it that set the timing and when you put gasket sealer on it you change the timing drastically and it will run like poo poo, you need to pull the pump out completely and clean all the surfaces and shims up use a very light mist of spray paint on the shims and that's it.
Pull the cover on the side of the block just below the injection pump to see the pin (rack) that is not engaged with the governor linkage, and that pin is also stopping you from removing the pump, it need to be forward and lined up with a slot in the block to remove the pump.

If you need any more info I have that same engine (D850) sitting torn completely down on the bench right now getting a complete rebuild so I can show any details. ;)

You won't be able to pull up info on a B1402 as it's grey market. ;)

Correct. And I might add that contacting a dealer with reference to the B1402 or any other gray market will get you one of several possibilities. Thrown out. "Uhhh", and possibly an "I don't know".

Kubota USA does NOT support the gray market tractors and from what I have gathered, I think some of the Kubota guys would like to see them melted down for more Chinese crap metal.
