Hi, can someone help me figure out how many HP Kubota 1402 actually have?
The name suggests 14, BUT according to most of sources I have found on the internet, it says 18 or 19 HP

Says 13,8 HP here

here it says 19 HP and 14HP at PTO. I assumed in total it as 19 but if you use PTO, 14 goes to that and remaining 5 is used for moving the tractor?

Another source stating 19HP

On this list it appears as 13 HP. It is strange that for similar model B1400 it says 19HP and for 1402 it says 13HP.

Can someone help clearing this out please? Is there a way to test it? The reason it simportant is because I am thinking of replacing it for a stronger tractor of around 20-26 HP. Now if I already have 18 HP on this one, then it won`t be much of an upgrade, but if I own only 14 HP now, then it makes sense to upgrade.

Firstly, If you think you need 20-26 HP…. I suggest you Truly Upgrade…to a 30% higher.

As for tractor HP ratings… Yes, they are “all over the place”…and you have to be careful which type of HP measurement is being discussed.

It's a 19 HP engine.
The systems like hydraulics and drive pull that number down to lower usable HP.
And the PTO drive pulls it down to ~14 HP available.

Part of the confusion is in the way tractor HP rating / testing has changed.

Thanks, this was informative. From what it seems from this new knowledge I gained, I am upgrading from 19 to 26 HP. If I go stronger the tractor will get much bigger and I need to have it small to be able to move in tiny passages on the property. So, Kubota EK1 is not much bigger than 1402, but its exactly double its weight ! And it can lift more than twice the load.
I guess its made heftier?

Thanks,
so in the case of Kubota EK1-261 it says this:

So 24,4 HP is engine power or usable HP/PTO power?
