Spring and summer not far behind, tillers ,chippers and of course mowers will be coming out of storage. All cleaned up and ready to go, but have you thought about the """""PTO""""" shaft ?

It reminds me how much I hate the covers on my brush hog (from service standpoint…they do their job well though)

I am looking forward to seeing result from our frost planting of our pollinators habitat though and making the first cut to the new growth …I hope it works.

Especially on equipment that I don't use very often, when I store the equipment I pull the two pieces of the PTO shaft apart and leave them that way. Then when I need to use the equipment again I clean and lube the two sections and fit them back together. I've had it happen in the past that the grease gets hard and the two sections refuse to slide and so storing them apart from each other fixes that.

I’m All-About Safety…. ‘cept when I’m not….

Other than the PHD (which still has it’s cover, and while still respecting it),… …..I don’t get AnyWhere Near PTO shafts when they’re spinning…. so I have a collection of New/Never-Used shaft-slip-safety-covers in their own little storage area in the corner of the shed.

Makes things Much Easier to maintain PTO driveshafts.
