Do you need a recipe…? Tastes like pork…(according to my depression-era Montgomery-county Arkansas Mom.)
My backwoods recommendation would be to cook in a Crockpot (throw some garlic cloves and onions in) all day and then pull it like pork…use whatever type of sauce you like on pork. (Works great for rabbits or squirrels too). Should make a helluva sandwich. (Beware, they are stinky (musky) IMO…probably a whole lot easier to use a bigger caliber so nothing left to clean up…then go to McDs and get a McRib)

We have a few. They’re not all that bad IMO. Butt ugly, but if we killed all the ugly things I’d be in trouble myself.
Typed some other stuff, but remembered this is public and there are probably laws about what you can and can’t do when and how these days.
I will say, if your laws allow, they’re not bad eating if their food supply is good quality. If they’re eating trash and rotten crap, they taste like rotten crap. Kind of like catfish from the main lake channel are good. Catfish from by the boat dock where folks feed the ducks and geese; not good.

He was great... Cute as a button... would curl up in your lap like a kitten.
He ate just about anything. little goofball.... hang off the shower curtain upside down by his tail
let him outside at night to raise hell and skulk around.... come back in the AM and sleep during the day.
They sometimes get a bad rap but they are pretty good pets.

I'd probably do some work to keep them from being under your shed. 1/2 inch hardware cloth below the ground by a foot or so should work.
Yep. They look ferocious …but they’re actually pretty laid back. Found one unexpectedly in the garage one evening. He’d wandered in from the pasture….. probably searching for food. He was probably feeling threatened or trapped when I showed up between him and the door…I actually had a pet possum when I was a kid.

… but I just got a broom and gently nudged him toward the door…and he ambled on out and slowly headed back for the woods.
I’ve gotten a lot more tolerant of wildlife in my old age. We all belong here.

Unless, it is causing you some problem; I would leave it be. They do some useful things cited in the above article, and they do not pose any danger. I had a pet one as a child, and it was never any trouble for us or our dogs and cats.
This from a person that has killed 100+ squirrels to protect bird feeders (feeders were rated for squirrels but they all failed) and house (chewed on a few of my roof shingles, and they pose a serious fire risk if they get into the attic).

i have an automatic feeder for cat food in the barn. Have a live trap set in there also. Caught so many possums in that trap they think it's home! They love cat food.
