After last weeks forcecasted "hypercane" left us some flurries, My son and I tried to figure out the names. It turns out that they are just renaming weather. Why, we were not sure.
If you find yourself wondering,
Polar Vortex = Cold Front - they happen regularly every winter, your mother would tell you to grab a coat just in case.
Bomb Cyclone = Blizzard/Rain Storm - they happen every year - your mother would say, "don't bother with an umbrella, it will be windy".
Hypercane = Nor'Easter - they happen every couple years - your mother would tell you "don't go anywhere, you have some shoveling to do".
Anyone see an agenda here? Maybe we could come up with even scarier names for these normal weather events?
