I'd look here for a service manual with your engine. If not look for an engine with a similar design, the procedure should be similar.

It appears the only service manual available is the WSM one which you can get for $70 (which isn't bad for a heavy equipment service manual these days).

Hope that helps,

Matt

i have a m8030 was wondering if any one knew how to time injection pump for removal and installation thanks
Hi, I also have an M8030 where I need to pull the injection pump. My service manual does not provide procedure to ensuring the timing prior to removal. What did you find out? Your experience would be very helpful. thanks -- Jim

Timing (on many engines) is determined by shims located under the injection pump. Timing does not change if you do not change the shims.

Jim, this is a 7 year old thread. If you would like information on your specific problem you should probably start a new thread and then list your tractor model and problem.

Hello
Vary easy. You have a mark on the timing cover as well as the injection pump. Those marks should be aligned now. Just line them up when you put it back on. The pump will only go into the timing gear one way. For others this tractor uses a CAV type injection pump. No shims. Good luck.

If you can't find the marks (seen one like that), take a pin punch and make 2 marks for reassembly.

If it is indeed a CAV DPA pump, you'll have to access the front of the inj pump drive gear.. Theres a plate infront of the inj. pump. {rad.side} prob. about 5-1/2 bolts, remove them..
The rad coolant line likes to live right there so u may have to get it out of the way..
Once u gain access to the front of the inj. pump drive gear, theres 3-1/2 bolts that need to be removed.. Once that's done, DO NOT TOUCH/MOVE THE GEAR..
It might be smart to mark the gears to each other if your worried about it moving..
Now look for the timing mark on the inj. pump mounting ear.. it'll be the closest one to you.. theres a line on it that corresponds to either a mark or timing degree marks on the block.. They may be painted over 15x but they're there.. some gasket remover & a razor blade will be your friends..
IF your going to make your own marks.?? DONT DO IT ON THE MOUNTING EAR.. chances are very good that you'll crack the housing.
Once the front is loose, all u have to do is remove the lines & linkages & remove the 3 bolts holding the pump to the block & wiggle it back..
OH, DO NOT REMOVE the levers.. they are needed during the rebuild process.
Good luck & contact me if u need further instructions.
