I've determined that the rack is stuck in my pump (no fuel getting to injectors), is there a link to procedure for pump removal? I have removed fuel lines, intake manifold and cut solenoid (working)...anything else I should be aware of before lifting pump?
Thanks,
Seann

If the rack is truly stuck, getting an injection pump out can be tricky as the rack is required to be in a certain location to remove it.
There is a slot in the block that the injection pump pin must pass through.

Also if you remove the pump and send it to be serviced, remove all the shims and save them as they are the timings shims.

So, while lifting it partly out can you get at anything to unstick it to line the pin up? With a free pump does the pin line up at rest? Also, is it a straight lift out, no springs or anything to unhook, thanks.

There will be just one spring attached to the speed plate on the side, nothing attached to the pump.

Pump lifts straight out of the hole.

How do you know the rack is stuck?

With the solenoid removed, using a hook to pull the rack plate back, or push it forward results in zero movement. I believe it's just not coming back when the pressure is released on the solenoid pin, and that is why I can't get fuel up to the injectors. I pulled the fuel line to check gravity feed through the filter, then pump pressure through the mechanical pump, both good. Please let me know if you agree with this theory. Also, should you normally be able to prime the injectors with the plunger on the mechanical pump? Thanks for your input,
Seann

Pull the speed control plate and try and move the rack. ;)

Moving the spring control lever while feeling in through the solenoid hole, nothing moves. I can see the return spring moving and feel tension, but nothing is moving. You can see from the solenoid opening photo that it appears someone has been in here before...

Weather finally cleared here to have another go...I removed the speed plate like you suggested. The forward most lever was seized (in the most rearward position, against the throttle lever boss). The slot where I believe the dog for this lever goes is actually forward of the upper right bolt hole, too far to the right and seems to be stuck there. It moves back and forth maybe 1/16". It looks like there is no way that the dog was even engaged in the U shaped cavity in the horizontal sliding "rack" (if that's the right term). The small spring on the rack that comes from the rear seems quite extended. Everything is free and lubed, but don't see how this can line up to re-install. Your help is appreciated,
Seann

One other question, I think Wolfman mentioned that it might be tricky getting the pump out if it is in fact stuck closed. I'm there...is there a trick you can share?
