Hello my name is Logan, im new to the forum and i need some help, my dad passed away in 2010 and with that he left his Kubota 1630C small little tractor to me, i'm sixteen and was never really taught anything more than the basics about it. The problem i've noticed is that it seems to not have any power anymore, i've recently kept up with the normal maintenance (oil change, added coolant, new hydraulic fluid.) It starts and runs fine but still seems like it use to have a lot more speed, force, and lift. Now it barely rolls along, hardly any lift, and seems much more fragile. I'm not sure if this is simply because its old or if there is a line or something that needs replaced. It use to be able to move mounds of gravel and dirt, but now when it hits a pile it just stops and won't push. Any ideas?? Please and Thanks ~Logan

Welcome to the OTT forum Logan. Sorry to hear about your father. your problem could be several different things. Need some more info to determine. How long has it been this way? What happened just before it started? When was the last time the hydraulic fluid was changed? When was last time the filter was replaced? Etc.

Logan,
In order to give you better info, really need to know which tractor you have, the 1630C is the loader model Number, look on the hood of the tractor for the tractor model #, or plate on the left side, middle of the of the tractor.

Most likely it's a B7100HST-D ( B7100 Hydrostatic drive 4WD )

Do you have the WSM (Work Shop Manual / Service manual) for it?
If not go here to download it:
http://kubotabooks.com/AutoIndex/in...Manuals/&file=B6200HST-B7200HST-WSM-01370.pdf

What you are explaining could be either bad clutch disk causing it to not transfer power to the rear or it could be a hydraulic issue.
Get us the exact model of the tractor and we can go from there! ;)

Logan, have you changed the fuel and air filters? If a filter is clogged, that could cause what you described. When you changed the hydraulic fluid, did you use the correct type? These tractors use a specific type of fluid.

Pull the cover on the center of the tractor (between your legs when sitting on it), check if that filter has been changed as some miss it.
also with the cover off you will be able to tell if the clutch is slipping or if it's an HST issue.
Run it with cover off, look at the propeller shaft (shaft from motor to hydrostatic transmission) if you are powering into a pile of dirt and the shaft stops spinning you have a bad clutch if the shaft stays spinning then you have an HST or hydraulic issue.

And be sure nothing attached to you can fall down into the opening and get wrapped around moving parts! Tractors love to pull the unsuspecting into their bowels!

Okay so I opened the panel and found a rats nest so obviously I removed it, the filter looks like it hasn't been changed in forever, I'm about to run the dirt pile test just to be safe but still that filter looks like it needs replaced

So after removing the panel the filter needs to be changed it looks like, to me it seemed like simply removing the rubble that was in there helped a lot, when I rammed it into a dirt pile the thing inside still spun, so does that narrow it down to a hydraulic issue?

Yea it sounds like your dealing with a filter cog issue, and not a clutch issue. ;)
