Good morning thanks for letting me join .
A friend has a recently purchased 2003 Kubota MX5000D and when you turn the key left to warm the glo plugs it engages the starter . The starter engages normally when the key is turned to the right . The previous owner changed the ignition switch to fix this problem but it didn't help . Any ideas on fixing this problem would be appreciated . Thanks!

Just so you know the glow plugs are (probably) powered in both glow plug and the start position of the key.

Does the key switch presently in the tractor have a pig tail with connector like the one below?

If the switch has the pigtail, the likelihood that the switch is wired wrong is next to zero.

The start relay #3 is powered all the time but is activated by the ground side of its coil circuit which passes through safety switches such as the pto switch and the shuttle shift switch where the ground path is broken if the pto is engaged or the shuttle shift is in forward or reverse.

As has been often reported on this forum, wiring damaged by rodents is a common problem. In the case of this tractor, with the starting relay being activated on the ground side, a bare wire touching ground would engage the relay.

The coil side of the starter relay is activated by the main switch only in the start position. It looks to me like the ST and the G wires are switched somewhere or have gotten connected together .

Thanks so much for the info , when i get to the tractor and check it out i will let you know what the results are .
